Chrispine Kasiya, born on 22nd September 1978, is a child and youth development activist in Malawi. He holds Diplomas in Mass Communication and Community Development. As a Community Development worker. He is the Coordinator for Educate Community (EdCo), a local NGO that works to improve the lifestyles and livelihoods of children, youth and women in areas of education, health and governance.
He has worked with various local organizations that promote children, youth and women as the Executive Director, Programmes Manager and Field Worker. For over three years, he has served as the Southern Region Chairperson and the National Executive Committee (NEC) member of the Malawi Alcohol Policy Alliance (MAPA) where, in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and Population services, he participated in the development of the National Alcohol Policy which was approved and launched in January 2017. Currently he is serving as a member of the National Steering Committee of the Civil Society Nutrition Alliance (SCONA), a network of organisations that advocate for the passing of the Nutrition law in order to ensure improved access to nutrition in Malawi. He has over ten years experience working in the social sector. He has experience in community mobilization, advocacy and lobbying, and Capacity Building (Trainer of Trainers – TOT in various social development fields). In the area of child development, he has participated in various child and youth policy review and lobbying processes at community, district and national levels. He has supported projects aimed at strengthening Community Victim Support Units (CVSU) through awareness creation and capacity building of CVSU Committees to address child rights violations at community level.
